One Veteran Teacher's Thoughts on being "Renaissance'd"
Dear friends and family at the G,
As the time slowly grinds down on yet another year, I have begun to face the reality that my time(and many others too) here at Germantown High School is over. Before the opportunity passes me by, I would like to express my profound gratitude and appreciation for all of the Germantown family. More than any other place I have ever worked, SDP or elsewhere, Germantown has always been a family to me. Dysfunctional as hell, but a real family nonetheless. I am afraid that I where ever I go in the future that I will never find the colleagues or relationships that I have been fortunate enough to build in the past 6/7 years.
As an adult, especially in terms of your career, you come to realize that people come and people go. This, of course is true here as much as anywhere, but somehow, even in my first days here, Germantown was undeniably HOME. And as professionals, I suppose that we all at times dream of moving on to bigger or brighter places(they do exist right?). Truthfully though, even in the worst moments, I have usually seen myself retiring from here. I regret being FORCED to leave Germantown and hold little regard for the process that has put us all in this situation. It helps to believe that many of you share the same sentiments.
In the next, and last few weeks, please take the time to join me in saying “Thank you” to everyone that has made my time here at Germantown memorable and comfortable. I will certainly miss this place a great deal more than could be expected.
